  •

  • Distinguish your company from your competition

Don't try to emulate another company. Be your own brand.

  • Different colors have different subconscious effects on the human mind. Blue represents trust while red instills appetite. Have you ever wondered why just about every restaurant logo contains red and insurance logo contains blue?

  • Use an appropriate font

  • Less is more (most of the time)

Sometimes it makes since to have elaborate features in a logo but keep in mind it should be simple enough to make a quick statement AND recognizable from afar. To many details will get lost when looking at the logo at a distance or when reduced on say a business card.

  • Be memorable

Your logo should make a statement about your company. The next time a customer needs your kind of business, he'll choose you just because of brand recognition.

  • Avoid distracting elements

Your logo does not need, LLC, Inc, and other 'legalese' (except for the trademark).

  • The Tagline should be separate

Your tagline is an important part of your company's identity but it should be separate from the logo.
